A 33-year-old man, Gimba Sheneni, has been arrested for allegedly abducting his neighbour’s daughter in the Paikon Bassa community, Abaji Area Council of Abuja.

A local vigilante, Dangana Bala, told Daily Trust that the suspect was apprehended after the young woman’s parents reported her missing for several weeks.

According to Bala, the parents suspected Sheneni, who had reportedly been in a secret relationship with their daughter.

“Actually, the girl’s parents had been complaining that the man was secretly dating their daughter. They even warned her to stay away from him,” he said.

“On Sunday, our vigilante members in Dafa saw the girl and the man riding a motorcycle together. They immediately alerted us, and we proceeded to the neighboring village of Tukurwa, where we arrested the man at his friend’s house.”

“They said the man had previously denied taking the girl when her parents confronted him and demanded to know her whereabouts.”
