Financial instructor Kalu Aja has voiced concern over the growing economic hardship in Nigeria, after witnessing loaves of bread being sold in halves at a store to accommodate struggling consumers.

He shared a photo of a half loaf of sliced bread displayed on a store shelf, calling the sight both “shameful and painful” as he highlighted the deepening poverty in the country.

Writing on X, he said:

“This is sachet bread, sold in 234.

Omo, this is shameful and painful at the same time.

I commend the bakery for thinking outside the box. I weep for the eviscerated middle class.

If bread is sold in slices and spaghetti in bundles, then the poverty smells like a two-week-old dead goat in a beautiful mansion.

God help you because that’s where your only help will come from.”
