A former spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign council in the 2023 elections has stated that no single individual, regardless of their stature, can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections without a coalition.

The actor-turned-politician made this assertion during an appearance on Channels Television on Sunday, April 27.

Quoting Nelson Mandela, he said: “It always appears impossible until it happens.” He continued, “I may not be able to guarantee an alliance between Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, but as we approach 2027, I am confident there will be a coalition. Whether it involves Obi and Atiku, I cannot say for sure. However, a coalition is inevitable because it will be the only viable strategy for the opposition to make a significant impact.”

When asked if President Tinubu could be defeated without such a coalition, he responded affirmatively, saying Tinubu would “outrightly” win and “just walk into victory.”

He further explained: “No single candidate can defeat Tinubu alone… and the reason is simple. In Nigeria today, it is not enough to win an election; you must also secure your victory. This requires the support of the elite, even if the majority of the people vote for you.”

He concluded by drawing a parallel with the 2015 elections, saying: “If the elites come together like they did in 2014 to confront Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, they can unseat Tinubu in 2027.”
