The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a gold robbery incident at Wassa Afransie in Ghana’s Western Region.
The suspects — Emmanuel Kelvin, a Nigerian national; Felix Adjei, also known as Africa or Nana Adjei; and Kofi Appiah, alias Kesse — are alleged to have robbed employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited. The stolen items include gold valued at GH₵199,000.00 along with other valuables.
According to preliminary investigations, on April 4, 2025, company driver Kofi Appiah and a colleague, Emmanuel Adu, were returning from Wassa Ayiem after collecting gold from a client when they were ambushed. Armed men reportedly emerged from the bush and fired warning shots before making away with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla. The vehicle was later found abandoned in a nearby community.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Kofi Appiah at his residence in Wassa Akropong on April 21, 2025. The two other suspects were subsequently apprehended from their respective hideouts.
During the operation, the police recovered a Jojeff pump-action gun (butt number 168316), a Calymm PDS pistol without a serial number, 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge, two G3 rounds, a locally manufactured pistol, and GH₵65,000 in cash suspected to be proceeds from the robbery.
All three suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. They are expected to be arraigned in court soon to face prosecution.
