Popular On-Air Personality, Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, widely known as Do2dtun, has called out reality TV star Whitemoney over comments made during the 17th Headies Awards, held in Lagos on Sunday, April 27.

While accepting the Afrobeats Single of the Year award on behalf of singer Flavour, Whitemoney stated:

“Now, this award is for my brother Flavour. We didn’t plan this — he is not around — but on behalf of all the Igbos, I say ‘Ayagaya igidigi.’”

Do2dtun found the comment inappropriate and took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to voice his disapproval. He argued that the Headies, and the Afrobeats genre as a whole, should be celebrated by all Nigerians and Africans, not framed through a tribal lens.

He wrote:

“‘On behalf of the Igbos!’ I’m sorry, that was so unnecessary. It didn’t need that type of narrative. It’s an award won by an African, for Afrobeat, and for Nigeria. #Headies2025”

The incident has since sparked conversations online about the importance of maintaining unity in national celebrations, especially in culturally diverse settings like award shows.
