Speaking during a community engagement in Omor, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, General Musa—represented by Group Captain Ibrahim Bukar, Deputy Director of Defence Media Operations—warned that the spread of unverified and provocative information poses a significant threat not only to the South East but to the peace and unity of Nigeria as a whole.

The visit was part of a people-focused outreach initiative under Operation Udoka’s Area of Responsibility, aimed at building trust and fostering collaboration between the military and local communities.

General Musa emphasized the danger posed by the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stating that their campaigns undermine national interest and must be strongly rejected. He condemned the circulation of false or inflammatory content by the outlawed group and underscored the importance of public cooperation in restoring security in the region.

“People should have trust in the military, because the military belongs to them,” he said. “They should always provide us with actionable information. When you see something, say something. It is only through such cooperation that we can effectively tackle insecurity and restore peace.”

He reiterated the military’s commitment to safeguarding all law-abiding citizens, noting that its role in internal security is neutral and solely focused on maintaining peace.

“We are only after the bad elements and are here to protect law-abiding citizens,” he added. “In the event of communal conflicts, our aim is to restore peace—not to take sides.”

General Musa assured the community that the Armed Forces remain steadfast in their constitutional mandate to ensure national stability and safety, creating a secure environment conducive to economic development and prosperity.
