Kidnapped Anambra Lawmaker, Justice Azuka, Laid to Rest

The remains of Justice Azuka, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, were laid to rest on Saturday, February 15.

Azuka, a prominent Labour Party chieftain, was abducted on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha, while returning home for Christmas. Tragically, his lifeless body was discovered at the Second Niger Bridge on February 6, 2025.

A funeral mass was held in his honor at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Onitsha, attended by several dignitaries, including Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly Somtochukwu Udeze, his deputy, and other assembly members.

Also present were Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, LP senators, members of the House of Representatives, and other notable figures who gathered to pay their final respects.
