Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has dismissed the idea of deep-seated animosity among Nigerian politicians, describing political rivalries as mere entertainment for the public.
Speaking during his 60th birthday thanksgiving service at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Isan Ekiti on Sunday, Fayemi downplayed the perceived hostility often exaggerated on social media.
“All these things you read on social media are just for your entertainment,” he remarked. “Many might wonder why Governor Segun Oni is here. During his birthday, I spent the entire day with him, and if Governor Ayodele Fayose were around, he would have been here too without hesitation.”
Fayemi stressed that political differences and party affiliations do not equate to personal enmity, particularly among politicians from Ekiti State.
“Our vision has always been a united Ekiti, not divided by political lines. We may belong to different parties, but there’s one party we all share—the Ekiti Party, the Ekiti Progressive Party—and our governor is continuing that vision,” he stated.
His remarks highlight the underlying camaraderie among politicians, despite the public perception of rivalry.
