Police Detain Officers Accused of $3,000 Extortion in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Command has taken action by arresting and detaining some of its officers accused of extorting 3,000 USDT from a resident of Port Harcourt.

On Friday evening, a user on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) with the handle @harrisonbbi18 posted the following:

“Police officers attached to Rivers State Police Command left Port Harcourt to Aba, Abia State, arrested a man, took him to Rivers State, Bayelsa State, and entered Ughelli, Delta State. After paying 3,000 USD, they moved him back to Port Harcourt and dumped him.”

Upon contact on Saturday, Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command Public Relations Officer, initially promised to provide more information. Subsequently, she confirmed the incident and assured that the details would be made public after the conclusion of the investigation.

The police authorities issued a concise statement regarding the matter:

Re: $3000 USDT Transferred To Police Officers WALLET

The police personnel have been identified and arrested while the investigation is in progress.

The outcome will be made public as soon as it is concluded.

However, when pressed for additional details, she declined to disclose the number of policemen involved or whether the victim had been contacted.
