The Ivorian Government has declared Thursday, January 18, a public holiday for all schools in the country. Additionally, some government parastatals are expected to operate on a half-day basis, closing work by 1 pm.

This announcement precedes the second Group A match between the Elephants of Ivory Coast and the Super Eagles of Nigeria, scheduled for 5:45 pm Nigerian time at the Alassane Outtara Stadium in Abidjan this evening.

The government’s decision aims to ensure that citizens of the francophone country are well-prepared to offer their full support to the Elephants as they gear up for the crucial match.

Cote d’Ivoire, as the host nation, commenced their AFCON campaign with a 2-0 victory over Guinea Bissau, while Nigeria faced a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in their opening game.
