The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, declared that his faction has fulfilled all conditions stipulated by President Bola Tinubu and involved parties to address the political crisis in Rivers State. The minister made this statement during a visit to the Oba of Ogbaland in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Royal Highness Eze Nnam Obi III, on Saturday.

Wike, while assuring the king of his commitment to peace in the state, expressed his willingness not to disappoint the traditional ruler. He acknowledged President Tinubu’s intervention in the political standoff between him and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Wike commended Tinubu for advocating peace in the state despite not being from Rivers, emphasizing the positive impact of peace in individual states on national stability.

The minister, accompanied by Senator Sam Anyanwu, Senator Barinada Mpigi, Chief Victor Giadom, Timipire Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum, Senator Heinekin Lopobiri, and Felix Obuah, urged the Oba and his council to continue praying for President Buhari.

President Tinubu played a crucial role in mediating the Rivers political crisis, convening meetings with Wike and Fubara. The truce, reached on December 18, 2023, involved the withdrawal of court cases initiated by Fubara, recognition of Martin Amaewhule’s leadership in the Rivers State House of Assembly, and other resolutions aimed at restoring peace and stability in the state.
