Nigerian artist Lola Mewu is currently in the midst of her quest to break the world record for the longest painting marathon.

Several months ago, she announced her intention to challenge the Guinness World Record for the most extended continuous painting session. After receiving approval from Guinness World Records, Lola commenced her artistic marathon at 6:30 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

As of 1:30 pm on Monday, October 30, she had surpassed the impressive 43-hour milestone.

Lola’s captivating paintings reflect nostalgic childhood activities such as playing in class, visiting a call center, and gazing out of the window. Some of these artworks have already been auctioned off, as per the requirements of Guinness World Records.

Her ultimate goal is to surpass the current record held by Ronald Palmaerts, who painted continuously for 60 hours in 2013.

Lola is expected to complete her remarkable challenge by Tuesday, October 31.

Lola’s endeavor follows in the footsteps of Hilda Baci, who previously broke the Guinness World Record for marathon cooking, inspiring many Nigerians to pursue their own record-breaking feats.
