Former President Goodluck Jonathan has asked Nigerians to move on and accept the ruling of the Supreme Court affirming the election of President Bola Tinubu. Jonathan said this on Friday, October 27 while speaking to State House correspondents after meeting with President Tinubu,

“We discussed certain matters that are essential for the progress of our nation. The elections have concluded, and it is imperative that we forge ahead. Despite our current economic challenges, we possess the capabilities to lead. I will continue to engage in conversations with Mr. President, including providing updates on my foreign programs, as they pertain to national matters, not personal ones.”
He mentioned that the visit occurred shortly after the Supreme Court’s verdict, offering him the chance to extend his congratulations to the President for the Thursday’s judgment. He emphasized the importance of putting an end to tensions and uniting as Africa’s most populous nation to move forward.
Jonathan called on all political leaders, including former Presidents to eschew bitterness and work together in harmony for the country’s overall good. The former president also said his visit was to inform Tinubu of some of his recent foreign engagements as well as some sundry issues affecting the country.
“Traditionally, when a former president travels abroad for continental, regional, or international matters, they return home to inform the current president. This has been the longstanding practice. Often, when you find me in this position, it is because of the essential work we must undertake to advance Nigeria, ECOWAS, and the African continent,” he emphasized.
