Bola Tinubu Revokes Nomination of 24-Year-Old Engr. Imam Kashim Imam as FERMA Board Chairman

On Thursday, October 19, Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson, issued a statement announcing the withdrawal of the nomination of 24-year-old Engr.

Imam Kashim Imam as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA). This decision came after Imam’s appointment, which was initially made public on Friday, October 13, with the president appointing the young engineer for a renewable term of four years, in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007.

Imam’s nomination had sparked concerns, with many expressing doubts about his qualifications and experience for the role. In response to these concerns, Ngelale confirmed that the nomination had been withdrawn immediately. The statement did not provide a specific reason for the decision, but it clarified that all other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA would remain unaffected.

The statement read, “President Bola Tinubu has directed the withdrawal of the nomination of Engr. Imam Kashim Imam to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

“The President’s withdrawal of the above-mentioned nomination is effective immediately.

“All other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA are not affected by this directive.”
