Kanye West conveyed to Elon Musk that he does not believe he has bipolar disorder but rather exhibits “indicators of autism” due to a car accident, as revealed in leaked text messages.
The 46-year-old artist sought the assistance of his longtime confidant, Ian Connor, to share screenshots of text messages he allegedly sent to Elon Musk.
Given that Kanye had been banned from Elon Musk’s social media platform in December 2022, he appeared to be making a plea for a second chance while offering a lengthy explanation.
In his text to Elon Musk, Kanye wrote, “I’m not bipolar. I exhibit signs of autism due to my car accident.”
Kanye was apparently referring to the well-known automobile collision he was involved in while leaving a recording session at a Los Angeles studio on October 23, 2002.
At that time, Kanye had fallen asleep at the wheel of his rented Lexus, resulting in a collision with an oncoming vehicle that left his jaw broken in three places.
Kanye also delved into more personal matters, mentioning his relationship with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, who has primary custody of their four children.
He stated, “You can’t watch Kim prevent me from seeing my kids without making a public statement, and then consider yourself my friend, expecting me to bring my audience to your struggling platform.”
The text also revealed Kanye’s inquiry to the Tesla CEO about when they could have a conversation, emphasizing that he did not believe Elon owed him a meeting but that if they did meet, the nature of their relationship would need to change.
It remains unclear what prompted Kanye to send these text messages in the first place.
Ian, aged 30, shared the screenshots as proof that the messages came from Kanye, who had requested him to “make this public.”
In December of the previous year, Elon suspended Kanye’s account after he shared an image combining a swastika with a Star of David.
