President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi as the Mandate Secretary of the newly established Federal Capital Territory Administration’s (FCTA) Women Affairs Secretariat.

This announcement was made via a statement from Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, posted on FCTA’s official social media channels on Monday.

Her appointment follows closely on the heels of President Tinubu’s endorsement of the Women Affairs Secretariat’s formation, aimed at addressing women’s concerns within the FCT Administration, under the leadership of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Wike shared this information during a press briefing in Abuja last Friday, highlighting President Tinubu’s commitment to an inclusive governance that caters to the needs of all.

Ogunleye emphasized the significance of Benjamins-Laniyi’s role in fulfilling the FCTA’s mission of enhancing the well-being and empowerment of women and children in the FCT.

According to the statement, Benjamins-Laniyi, a native of Ogun State, born in 1965, earned this appointment due to her remarkable qualities and unwavering dedication to public service.

With more than 35 years of experience as a communication consultant, social entrepreneur, international mentor, and environmentalist, Mrs. Benjamins-Laniyi brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role. Her commitment to women’s political participation is evident, as she aspired for a senatorial position within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022. As the Grand Matron of ‘Hope Again for FCT Women in Politics,’ she has played a pivotal role in motivating and mentoring women in the political arena.

Ogunleye underscored that her in-depth understanding of the political landscape, her passion for addressing social issues affecting women and children, and her ability to navigate complex policy challenges will all contribute to advancing women’s rights and well-being in the FCT.
