A Nigerian man and the chairman of Shokeye Estate in Ogun State has strongly criticized the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, for what he considers an inadequate gesture of providing a ‘bag of rice’ as a palliative to his estate, which comprises 147 houses.
Expressing his bewilderment, the man stated, “I am utterly perplexed. I find myself at a loss as to how to distribute this single bag of rice among 147 households within Shokeye Estate. To the government, specifically addressing Dapo Abiodun, if you are unable to make a meaningful contribution, I implore you not to take such actions. We are not in dire need, nor are we begging for assistance. This ‘palliative’ consists of less than one-eighth of a bag of rice.”
He continued, “I shall return this rice so that it may be returned to Governor Dapo Abiodun, presumably on behalf of his superior, Tinubu, who sent it. We are not a population in distress, and we trust that God will sustain us. If you truly wish to offer us assistance in these challenging times, please do so without insulting our dignity. This, indeed, is an affront. Shokeye Estate will not tolerate such disrespect.”
