On Wednesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) commented on the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, suggesting that he is merely seeking “undue” media attention.

Earlier, during a press conference, Obi had urged President Bola Tinubu to address the ongoing controversy surrounding his academic records, which he described as causing “protracted embarrassment and undue anxiety.” This came in response to a recent development where a US court ordered the Chicago State University (CSU) to release the President’s academic records, following a request from the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement released on Wednesday, APC spokesperson Felix Morka asserted that the voters who supported the President are well aware of his background and qualifications, and they were not misled during the election.

Emphasizing that Tinubu requires no re-introduction, Morka confirmed that the President’s election was conducted in accordance with the law.

Morka’s statement reads, “Unwilling to abstain from the orchestrated campaign against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding his certificate from the Chicago State University, Obi opportunistically aligned himself with Atiku’s campaign to satisfy his insatiable desire for inexpensive media attention, long after his Labour Party had distanced itself from the baseless call to action by the former Vice-President.”

“In his comments, Peter Obi demanded that the President reintroduce himself to Nigerians, as though the 8.9 million Nigerians who voted for him last February were unaware when they made their informed democratic choice.”

“Mr. Obi must recognize that President Tinubu requires no re-introduction. He does not have an identity crisis, except the one manufactured by the likes of Atiku and Peters in our political landscape.”

“The 8.9 million Nigerians who elected him to office were, and still are, aware of his remarkable track record and achievements as a champion of democracy, freedom, social and economic justice for over three decades.”

“Nigerians recognize President Tinubu as a seasoned professional and a former auditor and treasurer of Mobil Nigeria, now ExxonMobil.”
