Napoli is reportedly considering signing Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen played a significant role in Napoli’s first Serie A title win in 33 years last season, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals. However, his future at the club has become uncertain following a controversy related to the club’s TikTok account.
Osimhen became the target of two offensive videos shared on the popular social media platform. The first video mocked his recent penalty miss, while the second contained a racial slur, referring to him as a ‘coconut.’
In response to the controversy, Osimhen’s agent threatened legal action against Napoli. The club, in turn, insisted that no offense was intended and did not issue an apology. Napoli’s social media executive has since resigned from their position.
This incident has created the possibility of Osimhen leaving the club in January, prompting Napoli to explore potential replacements.
According to reports from Calciomercato, Rudi Garcia’s team has identified Gabriel Jesus as one of the options for reinforcement, alongside Jonathan David from Lille and Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid.
