Activist Aisha Yesufu and other Nigerians have responded to Lawmaker Wale Ahmed’s statement urging corps members to accept their postings to any state. Mr. Ahmed advised prospective National Youth Service Corps members to refrain from attempting to influence their postings and instead exhibit a sense of duty towards Nigeria.
Wale Ahmed, representing the APC in Lagos, emphasized the significance of serving in different parts of the country to gain a well-rounded life experience. Speaking in Abuja on Monday, October 9, Ahmed stressed the need for the Federal Government to strengthen critical institutions, including security infrastructure and the NYSC program.
Ahmed called upon governments at all levels to prioritize adequate security measures, provide essential social amenities, and increase the monthly stipends and allowances for NYSC members.
However, Aisha responded by asserting that nobody should be compelled to go to a location they do not wish to go to, as the government cannot guarantee their safety.
