The Lagos State Police Command has disclosed that the autopsy report for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who passed away on September 12 at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances, is still pending. This situation led to the police exhuming his remains and conducting an autopsy on September 21 in an effort to determine the cause of his death.
While the police have since invited and detained several suspects as part of their investigation into the case, Lagos State Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa has stated that the autopsy report is not yet available.
“Before the uproar surrounding his death, which prompted the launch of the homicide investigation, the corpse was exhumed on September 21, 2023, and an autopsy was conducted on the same day at 16.00 CAT on the deceased’s remains. Vital specimens were collected and sent to the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre for toxicology examination. We are still awaiting the reports,” he stated during a press conference held on Friday.
Owohunwa further mentioned that they are also awaiting an official response from the NDLEA (Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency) regarding one of the viral videos containing allegations made by the singer about his experience in the agency’s office back in October 2022.
Despite the pending autopsy results, the Police Commissioner assured that the investigative team has made significant progress in the case.
“Even though we are waiting for the autopsy and toxicology test results, the special investigation team has made substantial headway, which supports the preparation of the case file for the Director of Public Prosecution,” the commissioner added.
“As a result, the case file is currently being duplicated and will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for examination and legal advice. The outcome of this process will determine further investigative actions and potential prosecution.”
He emphasized the commitment of the Command to ensuring justice in the case and promised to keep the public informed of any developments related to the autopsy and toxicology reports, advice from the DPP, feedback from the NDLEA, and any other developments related to the investigation.
Additionally, the Police Commissioner identified an auxiliary nurse named Ms. Feyisayo Ogedengbe, while Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy, and another individual were named as suspects.
“So far, we have identified, arrested, detained, and interrogated five suspects regarding their alleged involvement in the events leading up to the singer’s death,” he added.
According to Owohunwa, Ogedengbe administered “multiple and highly potent” injections to Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba) at his residence on September 12. These injections consisted of Tetanus Toxoid, paracetamol, and Cetrazone (an antibiotic), which reportedly triggered an immediate reaction in the singer, including symptoms such as vomiting, goosebumps, and convulsions.
