The Senate has successfully confirmed three ministerial nominees: Jamila Ibrahim representing Kwara State, Balarabe Lawal from Kaduna State, and Ayodele Olawande hailing from Ondo State. These confirmations are in addition to the 45 nominees previously approved by the Red Chamber in August.
This development follows a recent letter from President Bola Tinubu to the Senate, formally requesting their confirmation of the aforementioned nominees.
Approximately two and a half hours into the exercise, which began at around 1 pm on Wednesday, Senate President Godwill Akpabio called for a voice vote to confirm the nominations.
The senators overwhelmingly voted in favor of confirming the nominees.
In an unexpected and dramatic twist earlier in the proceedings, Lawal collapsed immediately after concluding his introduction, prompting several attendees to rush to his assistance.
Although the incident prevented Lawal from fielding any questions, his nomination was nevertheless confirmed. Fortunately, he was revived moments later.
