The police authorities in Lagos State have detained the Afrobeats sensation Naira Marley.
“Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for questioning and further investigative activities,” stated Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos police command, late Tuesday.
Naira Marley is expected to cooperate with the police in their investigation into the death of his former artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as MohBad.

While the singer has been accused of involvement in MohBad’s death, he has vowed to clear his name. Prior to the police’s statement, he confirmed his return to Nigeria to assist in the investigation of his former artist’s passing. He expressed, “I’d like to share that I’ve just returned to Lagos, Nigeria, to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important for me to do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with the hope that the truth will be uncovered and justice will prevail.”
“I’d like to inform you that I’ve recently returned to Lagos, Nigeria, to collaborate with local authorities in their ongoing investigation,” he tweeted this on Tuesday.
“It’s crucial for me to contribute to Imole’s cause. I will be meeting with the police, hopeful that the truth will emerge and justice will prevail.”
