In the early hours of Saturday, September 23, 2023, a plastic company situated in the Ilupeju area of Lagos experienced a devastating fire incident.
According to a statement released by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Authority), LASTMA officials promptly responded to the fire, arriving at the scene at approximately 6:30 a.m. Subsequently, they coordinated with other emergency responders to contain and extinguish the fire
“On the morning of Saturday, September 23, 2023, operatives from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, in collaboration with various emergency response teams, battled an industrial fire outbreak at the premises of Mega Plastics Company, located at No.4 Ilupeju Bypass, adjacent to the Federal Inland Revenue Service, within the Ilupeju area of Lagos.
Zone 21 Traffic Officer Ayo Olaosebikan, known as ‘Falcon,’ confirmed that the LASTMA rescue team was on-site at the industrial fire outbreak by 6:30 a.m., initiating contact with other emergency responders thereafter.
Upon our arrival at the industrial fire scene, we immediately informed other critical response units, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services and the Nigerian Police,” the statement noted.
The cause of the fire outbreak remains under investigation, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities at the scene of the incident.
