The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, issued an order for a thorough investigation into the rapper’s demise, instructing the Lagos State police authorities to carry out a prompt and comprehensive probe.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), quoted the IGP as issuing a “direct and urgent directive to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, instructing him to initiate a swift and comprehensive investigation into the tragic passing of the singer.”
Following inquiries into the circumstances of Mohbad’s passing, numerous concerned Nigerians are demanding justice, urging authorities to launch a comprehensive investigation. Concurrently, hundreds have taken to the streets to raise awareness about the circumstances surrounding his demise.
In several cities, passionate fans have brandished placards bearing various messages to emphasize their calls for justice. Candlelight vigils are also scheduled to be held nationwide.
On a recent Thursday, Senator Elisha Abbo, in the company of Nollywood luminaries Iyabo Oyo and Tonto Dikeh, paid a visit to Mohbad’s grieving family. The visit took place at the singer’s family residence in the Lekki area of Lagos State. During this visit, the lawmaker reassured the family of their pursuit of justice.
Furthermore, Senator Abbo has pledged to lead the effort to establish a Creative Economy Commission. As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Entertainment Economy, he believes that this initiative will help resolve conflicts within the creative industry, encompassing disputes related to record labels and artists’ contracts.
