The Federal Government has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Cuba to bolster collaboration in the realms of Innovation, Science, and Technology between the two nations.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally executed during the G77+China Summit in Havana, with the Nigerian delegation being led by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima. Mr. Olusola Abiola, the Director of Information in the Vice President’s office, made this announcement on a Saturday.
Representing the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, appended his signature to the agreement. He expressed his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership, which was instrumental in facilitating the signing of this important accord.
This bilateral agreement is primarily centered around research and development, as well as human resource development. It is expected to significantly enhance the partnership between Nigeria and the other party involved.
The bilateral agreement encompasses various areas of cooperation, such as biotechnology, scientific investigation, innovation, technological development, human resources development, specialist exchanges in science and technology, and technology transfer for developmental purposes.
Mr. Nnaji expressed his commitment to fully utilize the opportunities offered by this bilateral agreement and stressed that its implementation will begin promptly.
The Vice President emphasized Nigeria’s strong commitment to South-South cooperation as a crucial platform for fostering sustainable development in the global South.
