The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is confident that justice will prevail in the Supreme Court regarding the February 25 presidential election, which was won by Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a marathon 12-hour judgment on September 6, the Presidential Election Petitions Court decisively rejected the petitions filed by the PDP, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and the Labour Party (LP), along with their respective presidential candidates who had challenged the electoral victory of Tinubu. The distinguished five-member panel, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, not only dismissed the combined petitions of the PDP, APM, and LP but also unequivocally upheld the legitimacy of Tinubu’s triumph in the presidential election. Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, emerged victorious in the said poll.

“The BoT expresses confidence in the Supreme Court’s capacity and resolve to ultimately rectify the injustices and address the evident errors present in the PEPC’s Judgment. This is done in the best interests of our nation’s unity, stability, and overall corporate existence,” he asserted.

“The BoT reaffirms its steadfast disagreement with the Presidential Election Petition Court’s decision to uphold the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the victor of the February 25, 2023, Presidential election, despite clear evidence to the contrary.

“Furthermore, the BoT closely observes and evaluates the outcomes of cases within various election courts, assessing the extent to which they uphold the Rule of Law and consider the presented evidence.”
