President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates reached a significant agreement on Monday, September 11 in Abu Dhabi. This agreement has led to the immediate lifting of the visa ban that had been imposed on Nigerian travelers.

A statement released by the presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelali, announces that, as a result of this agreement, both Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines will promptly resume their flight schedules to and from Nigeria without any further delays.

The statement goes on to clarify that, as per the negotiations between the two Heads of State, the resumption of flight activities and the diplomatic breakthrough do not entail an immediate financial commitment from the Nigerian government.

Recognizing President Tinubu’s proactive economic development initiatives and the proposals presented during the meeting, an agreed framework has been established. This framework outlines plans for substantial investments, totaling billions of U.S. dollars, in various sectors of the Nigerian economy. These sectors include defense, agriculture, and others, and these investments will be carried out by the investment arms of the United Arab Emirates government.

Ajuri further elaborates that President Tinubu has successfully negotiated a joint foreign exchange liquidity program between the two governments, with detailed announcements expected in the coming weeks.
