On Sunday, President Joe Biden commended President Bola Tinubu for his exemplary leadership as the Chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The President of the United States praised the dedication of his Nigerian counterpart to upholding and safeguarding democracy in coup-ravaged Niger Republic and the broader West African region.
Biden held a meeting with Tinubu on Sunday during the G20 summit in New Delhi, India, where he reaffirmed the enduring commitment of the United States to Nigeria.
“President Biden commended the efforts of the Tinubu Administration to revamp Nigeria’s economy and expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for his steadfast leadership as the chair of the Economic Community of West African States, in defending and upholding democracy and the rule of law in Niger and the surrounding area,” stated the White House in a released statement.
“The invitation of Nigeria to the G20 Summit is a recognition of Nigeria’s significant global role as the largest democracy and economy in Africa.”
