Governor Akeredolu Enacts Legislation Establishing 33 New Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs)

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has officially ratified the bill establishing 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) within the state, making it a legally recognized law.

This comes nearly a month after the State House of Assembly passed the bill for the creation of the 33 additional councils.

The governor’s media aide, Richard Olatunde, revealed this in a statement on Saturday, emphasizing that with Akeredolu’s approval, the bill now has the necessary legal support for establishing the LCDAs in the state.

Akeredolu stated that the creation of the LCDAs “represents a significant stride in delivering on his campaign commitments and meeting the community’s desires for bolstered grassroots development.”

Furthermore, this initiative underscores Governor Akeredolu’s steadfast dedication to enhancing public service delivery. It is designed to bring governance closer to the people, with the ultimate goal of fostering greater responsiveness and efficiency in public services,” the statement stated.

“Governor Akeredolu is unwavering in his commitment to delivering impactful projects and pioneering initiatives. He is determined to intensify his endeavors in advancing the development of the Sunshine State.”

The establishment of the newly created LCDAs increases the total number of local councils in the state to 51.
