Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has expressed his determination to fulfill his entire term as governor.

The governor officially resumed his duties on Friday, September 8, after a three-month medical absence in Germany. It was previously reported by LIB that Governor Akeredolu returned to Nigeria from Germany on Thursday, September 7, after spending three months battling an undisclosed ailment.

On Friday, the governor convened a meeting with key stakeholders from the state, including Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Assembly, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at his residence in Ibadan. During the meeting, Akeredolu handed over his resumption letter to Oladiji and also provided a copy to Aiyedatiwa.

Governor Akeredolu stated that, with God’s grace, he intends to serve out his full term, which concludes in February 2025.

“I have returned after a long journey, as you are aware. I felt it was essential to meet with you all today. God has answered our prayers, and we give Him all the glory. I can assure you that our return is a testament to the glory of God and the prayers of all those gathered here, as well as those who wished us well. God has done what the majority of our people desired. Most of our people knelt down and prayed for our return, and we have indeed returned. Since we first landed here in Ibadan, I felt it was necessary to meet with the members of the House of Assembly here. We are here, and we are back. I am back, and with God’s grace, I will remain in good health to complete my full term in office. I want to inform you that I have returned, and I will resume my duties immediately. This is my letter of resumption.”

In June, Governor Akeredolu left Nigeria for medical treatment in Germany after notifying the State House of Assembly of his intention to take a 21-day leave of absence. During his absence, he delegated his responsibilities to his deputy.
