Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed his appreciation for the Presidential Election Petitions Court’s decision to uphold President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25th presidential election as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made exclusive remarks during the Thursday edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today program, one day following the extensive court ruling.

“Nigerians have expressed their will, and the court has upheld it,” remarked Wike.

The former Rivers State governor commended the meticulous judgment delivery by the five-member panel of the Tribunal, headed by Justice Haruna Tsammani.

Wike stated, “I did not anticipate the election results being overturned, as the President clearly emerged victorious.”

“I am overjoyed; this moment is filled with happiness. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mr. President and his Vice, Shettima, for their remarkable victory.

I would also like to express my deep appreciation for the judiciary. In all my years, I have never witnessed what transpired yesterday (Wednesday). It was truly eye-opening for the public, and I commend them wholeheartedly. To sit for more than 10 hours to deliver those judgments, meticulously addressing each case one by one, is a testament to their dedication. To me, it signifies significant progress within our judiciary,” the minister emphasized.

He called upon the petitioners, namely PDP’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi, to collaborate with the Tinubu administration for the greater good of our nation.”

Wike, a member of the G5, a faction within the main opposition party that holds differing views, openly admitted to endorsing Tinubu and actively opposing Atiku from the PDP in the previous presidential election.
