Spanish midfielder Aitana Bonmati clinched the Golden Ball award on Sunday for being the standout player in this year’s Women’s World Cup. This recognition came after her team secured a 1-0 victory against England in the final match.
The versatile 25-year-old Barcelona star had a phenomenal tournament, playing in every game and was a cornerstone of Jorge Vilda’s side.
“I don’t have the words. I am so proud, we had a great tournament,” Bonmati told the BBC.
