The Department of State Services has apprehended Abbas Umar Masanawa, who serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL). According to sources, his arrest is linked to the ongoing investigation involving the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
Prior to his current role, Masanawa held the position of Managing Director at the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC), also known as ‘The MINT.’ His appointment to succeed Abdulhammeed was preceded by his tenure at NSPMC.
A reliable security source disclosed that Masanawa, an associate of the suspended CBN Governor, was taken into custody at his residence in Abuja. His involvement in the Emefiele investigation had reportedly led to his apprehension.
