In a devastating incident that occurred in Southern Pakistan, a train derailment resulted in the loss of over 15 lives. The heart-wrenching accident has left the nation in mourning.
The Hazara Express, en route from Karachi to Abbottabad, experienced a derailment, with eight coaches involved, according to Mohsin Syal, a railway official, who informed HUM News.
Tragically, the incident resulted in the loss of at least 15 lives, and more than 40 people sustained injuries, as reported by Pakistan’s state television channel, citing railway officials.
The derailment occurred close to Sahara railway station in Nawabshah, located in the southern Sindh province.
Ijaz Shah, a senior railway official, informed AFP that a tragic accident resulted in the loss of several lives and left several others injured. Immediate action has been taken, and a relief train has already been dispatched to the site.
Visuals shared on local media reveal the devastating scene, with numerous individuals gathered around the site. Among them, some are seen bravely breaking windows to assist passengers in safely escaping from the mangled train carriages. Sadly, at least one coach has overturned, adding to the severity of the situation.
