The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Comptroller in charge of the Jibia Special Border Command, Katsina State, Mustapha Sani, has recently released a travel advisory urging Nigerian citizens to exercise caution and reconsider their travel plans to Niger Republic. The advisory comes in response to recent security concerns and potential risks associated with travel to the neighboring country.

He addressed the audience on Thursday during a collaborative ceremony with the Katsina State Command of the NIS, commemorating 60 years of dedicated service.

“Nigerians are urged to remain at home and refrain from attempting to cross into the Niger Republic until the embargo is lifted. We are committed to apprehending any Nigerien individuals we encounter who are planning to enter this country,” he stated.

He mentioned that the Service is dispatching personnel to guard the Katsina border, aiming to prevent illegal movements from the Niger Republic.

“While we may have been separated by colonial history, we still share certain elements like religion and culture. However, this should not be misconstrued as permission for them to enter Nigeria without valid documents,” he emphasized.

“Our officers have been placed on high alert, and we have already stationed some of them at the common routes used by foreigners to enter Nigeria. Based on our current surveillance, it will be practically impossible for unauthorized individuals to enter Nigeria.”

We have proactively positioned our officers at strategic locations to conduct regular stop and search operations, as is our customary practice.

During his address, the Comptroller overseeing the Katsina Command of the NIS, Muhammad Adamu, expressed satisfaction with the significant accomplishments the Command has achieved in managing border security, particularly in patrolling the irregular and porous land borders.

“We gather here today to celebrate our collective achievements and to raise awareness among the public about the commendable work we have undertaken in Katsina State. Our commitment remains unwavering as we strive to achieve even greater milestones,” he emphasized.”
