Just In: Senate Screens Umahi, Edun, and 12 Others

THE Senate will today begin the second day of screening the Ministerial Nominees submitted last Thursday by President Bola Tinubu for subsequent confirmation.

President Tinubu held a meeting last week to nominate twenty-eight candidates for Senate screening.

Yesterday, the Senate screened fourteen out of the twenty-eight nominees, and today they are set to attend to another fourteen nominees. Currently, the Senate is also focusing on the presentation of bills slated for first reading, with a total of eleven bills being presented.

Today’s Order Paper indicates that the Senators will commence the screening of Ministerial Nominees. The fourteen nominees listed for screening today are as follows:

  1. David Umahi (Ebonyi)
  2. Adebayo Olawale Edun (Ogun)
  3. Nasir Ahmad El-rufai CON (Kaduna)
  4. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa (Katsina)
  5. Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji (Enugu)
  6. Stella Erhuvwuoghene Okotete (Delta)
  7. Dele Alake (Ekiti)
  8. Adekola Adebayo Adelabu (Oyo)
  9. Muhammad Idris (Niger)
  10. Professor Ali Pate Bauchi
  11. Doris Anite Uzoka (Imo)
  12. Lateef Fagbemi SAN (Kwara)
  13. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo Akwa (Ibom)
  14. Barr Hannatu Musawa (Katsina)

It should be noted that on Monday, the Senate already screened the following nominees:

  1. Sen. Abubakar S. Kyari – Borno State
  2. Abubakar Eshiokpekha Momoh – Edo State
  3. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike – Rivers State
  4. Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev – Benue State
  5. Sen. John Owan Enoh – Cross River State
  6. Hon. (Bar) Bello Muhammad – Sokoto State
  7. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar – Jigawa State
  8. Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar – Bauchi State
  9. Senator Abubakar Sani Danladi – Taraba State
  10. Barr. Uju-Ken Ohaneye – Anambra State
  11. Hon. (Dr) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo – Ondo State
  12. Dr. Betta C. Edu – Cross River State
  13. Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim – Nasarawa State
