The Spokesman of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Tunji Oketunbi, officially confirmed the development during a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
Moreover, a representative from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed that the aircraft caught fire during the incident.
LASEMA further reported that the ill-fated copter was carrying four individuals, including the pilot, all of whom were successfully rescued and transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) also issued a statement confirming the occurrence of the accident.
NEMA Zonal Coordinator for South-West, Ibrahim Farinloye, stated on the Agency’s official WhatsApp platform that all individuals onboard a helicopter, whose operator remains unidentified at this time, were successfully rescued and are alive.
Following the incident, prompt first responders from NEMA, LASEMA, and investigators from the NSIB have already arrived at the scene.
This unfortunate accident occurred on Tuesday, marking three years after a previous incident involving a helicopter operated by Quorom Aviation, which crashed in the Opebi area of Lagos in August 2020.
The helicopter dramatically descended from the sky and collided with a residential building on Salvation Road in the Opebi area around 12 noon, resulting in the tragic loss of all three individuals on board.
