South African Marriage Therapist and Relationship Expert, Bakhe Dlamini, recently shared a heartwarming story about his 10-year dating journey with his wife.
Dlamini took to Facebook on Saturday, July 29, 2023, to reveal that he and Nokwanda, a community psychologist and social worker, first met in high school back in 2001.
During their decade-long courtship, the couple made a conscious decision not to engage in kissing or any form of physical intimacy. Even though they were prom mates the following year after they met, they maintained their commitment to not kiss.
In fact, the first time they shared a kiss was on their wedding day, July 2, 2011, when the priest finally said, “You may kiss the bride.”
Both Dlamini and his wife remained virgins throughout their dating period and chose to prioritize respect for each other’s bodies. Dlamini believed in being a true gentleman and didn’t want to rush his partner into any physical aspect of the relationship. He communicated his intentions clearly from the beginning, expressing his desire for them to abstain from kissing as he believed it could lead to sexual temptation before marriage.
Their decision was rooted in their shared belief in the biblical principle of “no sex before marriage,” and they wanted to enter into marriage with purity.
Dlamini’s message serves as an inspiration to those who are currently dating and share similar values regarding abstinence before marriage. He shows that it’s possible to maintain a loving and committed relationship without compromising one’s beliefs. Cheers to their beautiful journey!
